The Global Journalism Innovation Lab/Lab Mondial d'Innovation en Journalisme is an SSHRC-funded Partnership Grant research project. Led by Dr. Alfred Hermida and Dr. Mary Lynn Young at The University of British Columbia. Addressing how the future of news is shaped by approaches to journalism, innovation practices, business models, and policy frameworks. It focuses on explanatory journalism that provides evidence-based information and perspectives to inform public dialogue and policy action. The lab investigates how emerging approaches to digital journalism impact civic engagement and policy uptake in partnership with The Conversation Canada, and the network of affiliates in Australia, France, the U.K., and the U.S., together with university partners in Canada and in Australia.
